LO3 Genre conventions we have used

LO3 Genre conventions we have used

The genre for our documentary is participatory. This is a documentary genre that consists of the filmmaker being in the actual documentary, being a part of the documentary. We chose this as our genre because we thought of holding interviews with different people that included our main person. A good example of a participatory documentary is that which has been created by Michael Moore. Bowling for columbine is a documentary where Michael Moore talks about how America have very loose rules on guns in the United States of America. He gives interviews to people that have involved in topics with guns, victims of the shooting the school and general people who have different views on the gun laws in America. Michael Moore, in this documentary, is always a part of what is going on. He is always there giving examples of how easy it is to obtain guns, like how at the start of the documentary he opens a bank account and then is able to get a free gun. He is also a part of all the interviews that are in the documentary. He also follows some people around and witnesses their thoughts on the topic of the documentary.

We wanted to use this genre as we good get the view of different people on our topic, which was the influences of movies and games on people. We thought that we could use our questions to try and let people talk openly about their experiences with movies and games, and whether they believe that people are heavily influenced by movies and games.
